About Golden Era Games and its owner.

My name is Xavier Garner, and I have been interested in make video games since I was a child. Two games from my childhood really stand out as the reasons why I got into game Design: Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided and Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising. I longed to have games with World of Warcraft fidelity, that have the openness and play driven features of Star War Galaxies. For and games like Joint Ops, but with much, much, MUCH larger player bases. I have filled so many notebooks with game ideas, mechanics, classes for RPG games, player economy webs and much more before graduating high school.
Instead of going right into college for game design however, I enlisted in the US Army as a medic where I served honorably for many years, including one tour of Afghanistan. After that I joined the regular work force for longer than I hoped before finally going back to school at Full Sail University. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Interactive Technologies with a Concentration in Game Design. Really just a fancy way to say a bachelor's degree in Game Design. I got "jobs" and "internships" here and there at small indie studios, none of which went anywhere. Then one day it hit me...I had the money, the drive, the time, and the ability to start my own studio...so I did. And here it is! At Golden Era Games, we will have many up-and-comer developers, designers, and artists who strive to make it in the world just like me. People who want to take the gaming industry back to the golden age. An age were games we dominated by rich story, solid gameplay loops, innovation, and just being all around fun. NOT by greed, microtransactions, and AI slop.
We have a lot to learn, and a ways to go. So, I hope you stick with us as we start off small and get some more experience in using the new tools, figuring out the sales and publishing side of things, and building our first worlds. So, when we do go after something a little more daunting, we have the expertise to do so and so we don't let you, and our childhood selves, down.
